Dignity in Dementia

Maintaining patients’ dignity and treating them with respect is of utmost importance to older people, and is especially important to dementia patients who cannot always make their needs known.
This course explores the importance of maintaining dignity as people age. It looks at ways in which dignity can be compromised or lost, especially for people living with dementia. It examines ways to help restore and maintain dignity, respect and worth in later life.
Aim of the course
This course examines the reasons why dignity can be lost or compromised as dementia progresses, and proposes strategies to restore dignity and improve the quality of life of older people living with dementia.
